Conference on Effective Waste Management held in Rwanda
The main objective of the conference is to draw attention to the challenges facing waste management in Africa for sustainable development of this sector.

The Institution of Engineers Rwanda (IER), in collaboration with the Federation of Africa Engineering Organizations (FAEO), UNESCO and WFEO, has organized the 2nd Africa Engineering Conference that is be part of the 4th UNESCO - Africa Engineering Week. The conference which is being held in Kigali, Rwanda runs from 25th to 29th September 2017.
The main conference whose theme is "Effective Waste Management in Africa" was officially opened yesterday by the Rwandan Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente who emphasized on the need for strong measures to ensure adequate & sustainable development of this critical sector of human existence and well-being.
The Prime minister also echoed the need to have a well trained labour force as the single most important enabler of economic transformation for African countries. He called upon the engineers to uphold professionalism, build & consolidate true values & ethics expected from the engineering profession.
The main objective of the conference is to draw attention to the current diverse challenges facing waste management in Africa, and to consider the prospects for effective and sustainable development of this critical sector.
Informed persons and organizations in the waste management sector from all over Africa and the rest of the world have come together to interact, share experiences and ideas, and brainstorm on how best to strategically and pragmatically address the challenges of waste management in order to generate effective and sustainable solutions.
