Drivers among those dead in Thika Road Accident
The reports by NTSA also show that over 479 passengers and 705 pedestrians have so far died from over 7608 road crashes reported across the country.
Two drivers are among eleven people who died following the crash involving several vehicles along Thika road on Wednesday. Both drivers were at work at the time of the accident.
The accident occurred after the driver of a lorry that was ferrying building stones to Nairobi lost control of the lorry and veered off the road. A 34 seater passenger bus heading in the same direction rammed into the lorry and was forced onto the opposite lane hitting a 14 seater passenger van and a small car. The drivers of the bus and the van were among the eleven people who died on the spot. The injured were taken to several hospitals in the area.
According to statistics released by the National Transport and Safety Authority, at least 201 drivers have died on Kenyan roads since January, 2017. The reports also show that over 479 passengers and 705 pedestrians have so far died from over 7608 road crashes reported across the country. 320 cyclists and 152 pillion passengers have also died during the same period.
